Time Flies Whether You’re Having Fun Or Not
The oldest, scarcest and most valuable commodity on the planet is time. Time goes on with or without you. It goes on whether you perceive its passing or not. It affects everyone past, present and future and exists in and as part of all three. Time can make you early, late or “on”. Time is intangible, but it is as real as a brick wall. You can’t see it though, and you can’t hear it, touch it, smell it, or change it. Time spans eternity, and eternity has no time – it is the only “thing” that is not affected by time. God created time, and time has no effect on Him.
Time affects man in many ways. If man is cognizant of time and uses it wisely, then he is likely to prosper and enjoy life. If man is indifferent to time, he may well be slothful, and impoverished. People take “time” to enjoy themselves, “time” to heal, “time” to think, “time” to be happy or sad. People find “time” to work, to play, to recover, to do what has to be done. Sometimes, there’s a time to say “Good bye”.
Time is perceived and recorded in various conditions or circumstances. Time comes in nano-seconds, milliseconds, tenths of a second, seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, blue moons, years, decades, scores, centuries, lifetimes, millennia, light years, and ultimately eternity. Time has given us history and memories. Scripture tells us to “number our days” which means that we need to be mindful of our circumstances on earth and to Whom we owe our existence both temporally and eternally.
Songs have been written about time and here are some: TIME by the Pozo Seco Singers, Take TIME to know her by Percy Sledge, TIME by the Chambers Brothers, TIME won’t let me by the Outsiders, TIME in a bottle by Jim Croce, TIME after time by Cyndi Lauper, A TIME for everything by the Byrds, Take TIME to be holy by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. There has been a lot written about time. On occasion, it’s “time” to reflect on your life. “Where am I” (you say) “in the continuum of life.” “What kind of life have I led?” “What have I accomplished?” “What will happen to me when I die?” All of these questions relate to time, and whether we realize it or not, they relate to our Creator and eternal life be it in Heaven or Hell.
God gave us time to live life according to His will. His will is whatever He wants. Below is another related post for your consideration:
