This BLOG has covered “life” and “liberty”, but not yet “the pursuit of happiness”.  The Constitution (declared as the “supreme law of the land”; meaning over state laws!) refers to the guarantee of the “pursuit of happiness” thirdly after life and liberty.  Firstly, we should understand clearly that it is the guarantee of the “pursuit”, and not necessarily the result of “happiness” that is our protected status.  Politicians are selling us on the “right” to an education, housing, food, healthcare etc.  All of those rights would be very expensive to supply to everyone, and would have to be at the expense of those who already have provided for themselves. and that could easily, and in fact must, infringe on the pursuit of happiness of which property ownership is an integral part.

How do you pursue happiness?  This writer once knew a man who was happiest when he was “depressed”!  Think about that for a moment!  Pursuit is an action or state of being active in following a goal or objective with the idea of achieving it, getting a hold of it and possessing it and enjoying it as you see fit.  It is also possible that the pursuit could be an ongoing event that never comes to fruition or a conclusion.  In fact, some people may only set higher and more distant goals each time their pursuit brings them to the conclusion of the objective they seek.  The music artist who wants to sell a million albums before he/she will be happy; once that is accomplished may set a goal of 2 million in sales to be happy.  Our pursuits and happiness are only limited by our drive and imaginations, and who limits our drive and imaginations but we ourselves, and of course government?

The pursuit can be for something tangible, or intangible.  As an example of intangible, a person could pursue an in depth understanding of the God of the Bible, or occult practices.  As the Constitution is written, either pursuit is within Constitutional protections.  Any rub would come if someone is materially hurt, deprived, deceived, defrauded etc. through someone’s pursuit of a goal; be it tangible or intangible.  The Constitution’s acknowledgement of the God of the Bible and all Creation, helps to set a parameter or standard by which society can be restrained and constrained in order to protect “life”, “liberty”, and the “pursuit of happiness”, and hopefully thwart those pursuing the occult or any other form of evil that leads to more evil.

What about being hurt in your pursuit emotionally, spiritually or psychologically?  Being hurt in those pursuits are a much less tangible and demonstrable as well as quantifiable injurious result.  There are some avenues of protection in the laws of libel and slander, and the courts which can adjudicate those.   Those areas must not conflict with legitimate speech which includes the written word (as that would be an impediment to pursuit).  In today’s snowflake culture, everyone’s so sensitive that we have what are termed “hate crimes”.  As  an aside, have you ever heard of a “love crime”?   Of course not, although demonstrations of parents love for their children are being called “hate  crimes” as parents try to teach their children fundamental morality that may be rooted in Christianity, but also is demonstrably historical from a secular perspective as well.

What is really going on in America today is an overt and covert effort to undermine that pursuit of happiness that is guaranteed in the Constitution.  “Life” has already been decimated by abortion, partial birth abortion, after birth abortion, euthanasia, medical malpractice, street crime, massive pharmaceutical applications/vaccines etc.  “Liberty” has already been decimated with income tax, central banking, licensing for every meaningful activity, forced medications, gun control, travel control, massive national, corporate, state, county, municipal and personal debt beyond what anyone can pay which has made slaves out of everyone.  Decimating the “Pursuit” is much trickier, because it requires stifling the yearning in man’s heart to be free and to prosper (move forward in life freely;  progress)!

The attacks on life and liberty have had a negative effect on the pursuit, but not sufficiently so.  Therefore, people must be severely discouraged and stifled by cultural, economic, moral, political, criminal, judicial, educational, religious, medical, and familial chaos.  As it stands currently, the enemies of mankind (Satan being their chief) are in various stages of success in achieving all of the above.  Who are those enemies?   Here’s a short and incomplete list:  political organizations such as central banks, tax exempt foundations, think tanks, parties, NGO’s (non-governmental organizations), ivory tower universities, multi-national corporations, organized subversive street thugs, associations of unions, doctors, hospitals, regulatory agencies etc.  The list is non-specific, but there are linked posts below for further understanding.

The bottom line is; if you wish to “pursue happiness”, then you must exercise personal and individual responsibility in the following arenas: one; know God’s word in its proper application (not Arminian, Charismatic, Dispensational and/or other tangential applications of Theology),  Proclaim God’s word and submit to it yourself and call for others to submit to it.  Know the Constitution and its original intent and call for our leaders to adhere to it and defend it against enemies “foreign and domestic”.  Raise up Godly righteous leaders and get them elected, and after that hold their feet to the fire when they are tempted to stray.   Stay out of personal debt and don’t vote for any government debt (bonds).  Make sure that any laws that are passed are just and do not conflict first with the Bible, and secondly with the Constitution.  Have children (be fruitful and multiply) and raise them in God’s word.  Obey God’s word.  Shine the light of truth on those who do not obey God’s word.   If you do all of these things, you will be able to “pursue happiness”, and your life will be secure along with your liberty!  God will be pleased!
