Arrest The Arsonists, Or Spend Huge Sums Putting Out Fires & Rebuilding.

From this reading, my interpretation would be that the military could be called in without the Governor’s or Mayor’s authority/request/permission, but the duties of the military (under the Posse Comitatus Act) would be limited to protecting life, liberty and property, but not in assisting the local police.  That’s a very fine line to walk, and the implementation of it would be quite subtly nuanced.  I think they could help cover some of the police duties such as holding the line against property damage and protester’s movements, while the police did the tear gassing and arrests.  It needs to be understood that the military is  1.) trained to kill and destroy, and  2.) they will not allow themselves to be subject to brick throwing etc., which means, they will use lethal force to defend themselves, and non-violent participants may get caught in the crossfire.  This was demonstrated at Kent State, although there is a question as to the legitimacy of the military’s response to the protesters.  Most of the Guard is going to be nominally trained and experienced in riot control, and that could lead to a volatile situation which is just what the protesters (Antifa, BLM, BAMN, Boogaloo etc. want).  America experienced a “rebellion” 240 years ago.  Today, it is looking much more like an insurrection/revolution, and the new Tories are the Democrats and Neocons who are well entrenched in our government’s administration and legislation.  It’s a real conundrum!   Just my opinion.
