I remember dolly
All her fun and folly
On the floor a wagging tail thumped
Time to get up from bed I jumped
She would yowl,
But not howl!
Sometimes she would bark
But only for a lark
Sneak to the house next door
And visit her friend Wilbur!
When Mommy went away,
By the door she would stay!
Rest her chin upon a knee
And get a pet for free.
Up she jumped, and I really miss
That cold wet nosed Eskimo kiss
She would argue
But obey you!
Oh she was such a rascal
Yet always answer your call!
Us she’d always greet,
At the door to meet!
When the grand kids came
Her joy was aflame!
She enjoyed the chase
As always the case
Her intuition would always amaze
She knew time to play just from my gaze
And proud she was when getting the ball
As monkey in the middle was all!
Her Snoopy jump was so high
To remember brings a sigh
About that fetching look
You could write a short book!
And oh how pleased to go for a ride
To enjoy all the good smells outside
Take care to mention a “walk”
For she could understand talk
Never too shy to cuddle
Or join the family huddle.
Loyal to the very end
Oh what a delightful friend!
Struck down in her youth
Not long in the tooth!
From always present
To Never Present
There’ll always be a place in our heart
For such a great dog and so very smart;
God and time will heal a broken heart
