Hermeneutics & The 2nd Amendment

Hermeneutics is of Greek origin and means method of interpretation. Good hermeneutics takes into account the following:

1.) Who wrote it?

2.) When did they write it?

3.) To Whom did they write it?

4.) For what purpose did they write it?

5.) What were the cultural norms when it was written?

6.) What were the idioms of the language at the time of writing?

7.) What was going on at the time it was written that would influence the thinking of the writers?

Once these questions are addressed, then there can be a proper understanding of the writings As regards the Second Amendment, the term “well regulated militia” is a sticking point for the left. The left believes that the word “regulated” means controlled. Would they be surprised to know that at the time of the writing of the Second Amendment, the word “regulated” meant “supplied”?
