What Is The Duty Of A Policeman?

To protect and serve

The duty of a policeman is three-fold.  1.)  To uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States.  2.)  Keep the peace (they used to be called peace officers).  3.)  Apprehend the criminal – “apprehend” not try judge and execute, although if the criminal, or suspect, is using deadly or threatening force to evade capture, then the officer can use deadly force in return.
