Everyone is going to die; so what? What happens when you die? There’s pain, fear and discomfort most of the time, but that’s really not as important as what happens after you die. Let’s examine the possibilities. After you die, one of two things happen; something, or nothing. No argument with that, as there are no other possibilities. If nothing happens, then end of story, no need to worry.
If something happens, then what might that be? By this, “something” is obviously some type of life after death. Hindu’s and others believe in reincarnation. Sounds interesting, but there is no evidence documenting that ever happening. Occasionally, there is a person who will claim they are reincarnated, but no proof. Many people think that there is some form of life after death, and they most commonly refer to it as heaven, nirvana or paradise. And, this is what most everyone looks forward to – a permanent/eternal retirement on a pension if you will. Of course, there are those who try to make a heaven on earth, but they’re still going to die.
If there is life after death, then there would have to be some sort of order or authority to see to it that heaven is all that people think it will or should be. Otherwise, life in heaven would be no better than life on earth, and therefore, nothing to look forward to. Heaven, in theory, is a place of peace, serenity, plenty and goodness. How is that achieved?
If you go to the book of First Corinthians in the New Testament Bible, chapter 15 verse 6 St. Paul states that over 500 people saw Jesus Christ at “one time” after His crucifixion and resurrection. Now, you could not keep that secret, nor could you get all of those people to conspire to a lie and keep their stories straight at the same time. Also, history that took place before Christ; such as Aristotle and Plato (300 and 400 years previously), could not be trusted or have credibility if you can’t believe well documented history that came hundreds of years subsequently.
Additionally, most of the people who witnessed to and for Christ had no material gain. Many were stoned, crucified, fed to the lions etc. Why waste your time if it’s not true? You might as well capitulate and deny Christ, and spare yourself the pain and suffering? So what’s this got to do with the fact that you’re dying? Read what Christ says. He is preparing a place in Heaven for His “elect”. The rest will go to Hell. Heaven is described as being with comfort and without sadness, darkness or deprivation. Hell is described in fearful terms of darkness, torture, burning, thirstiness and agony. Either way, we’re talking about eternity (forever and ever without end).
Which sounds better? The Muslim believes that Heaven is a place where men will have nothing but material pleasures (food, sex, drugs, booze etc.) Muslim women have nothing to look forward to in Heaven. Consider this, you Muslims; If Allah (God) rules in Heaven, do you think he wants to spend his time watching you fornicate, be gluttons and self indulge yourselves? Allah (God) wants your full and undivided attention worshiping Him which is a reasonable expectation of His. Of course, that idea is anathema to the unbeliever.
At the end of the book of Deuteronomy (the fifth book of the Old Testament, and the end of the Torah), Moses declared the blessing for obedience to God, and the curses when disobedience was the way of Israel. He concluded by exhorting the people of Israel to “choose life”. Jesus says; “I am the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to the father except through Me.” Choose life eternal by way of Jesus Christ. Repent and believe!
