A Voice Message That Was Incredible!

My mother had a gardener named Brigito. Brigito was obviously inclined toward the gay lifestyle as he presented himself as being very effeminate. Brigito was a nice person and I liked him. In fact, we actually got along fairly well even though we were not only on different pages, but not even in the same book.

Brigito was a very diminutive 35 year old man – almost gaunt. I noticed one day that his arms and legs (he wore shorts while doing gardening in the summer) were covered with multiple Kaposi sarcoma lesions. For the uninitiated, that is a vicious form of cancer that generally appears shortly before imminent death.

One day I checked the voice mail, and the following message was there. I am paraphrasing as this was 25 years ago, and my total recall is weak. It went as follows: “Mrs. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ (my mother’s name), I was standing at the bus stop heading for your place, when my bowels vacated in my pants, and I had to go home to change my clothes. I’ll see you next next Thursday for gardening.”

Brigito was there next week, but looking more gaunt than ever. After that, we never heard from Brigito again. It’s most likely (as he was a faithful employee of my mother’s) that he went away to die. Homosexuals have a much shorter life span than do the morally upright non-drug using heterosexual community.
