Your Identity?

What Box Have You Been Put In?

People identify on the basis of one of two things as their first and foremost priority. Either race or culture. When you look at race, you must be mindful that all men are created in the image of God, and therefore, they all have an equal standing before Him under His law, not necessarily under His stewardship – He can do with people however He pleases, and to argue would be not only foolish, but a waste of time.

The other identity is culture. Culture generally is identified with religion first and traditions second, and then you have economic systems, clothing, food, hair styles, music, literature, art etc. Under religion, you have some very distinct qualities that unite a people.

You have Hindus who are united under the Shruti and/or Smriti. With the Muslims, you have those united under Sharia and Shiite. You have Confucians and Daoists. Shintoists and others populate Asia. We can’t forget Pagans and Satanists – beliefs that are growing rapidly in America. Lastly, there is the Christian arena, in which you have a plethora of beliefs.

Christianity starting 2000 years ago has been a real game changer. If you’re a Christian, you feel a kinship with someone no matter where in the world they come from. There are a wide variety of claimants; i.e. Roman Catholic, Protestant, Jehovah’s Witness, Mormon, Baha’i etc. Even within the Protestant thinking, there are Presbyterian, Wesleyan, Baptist, Evangelical and so on.

Within a Christian culture, those variances still allow for a common cultural understanding such as the Bill of Rights, and a higher authority than man and peaceful transfer of political power. This is what has held America together for so long. Starting in 1965, immigration policies in America changed. They changed to the extent that major U.S. cities like Los Angeles, California have gone from 93% white to 29% white. That in and of itself is not a major concern. The major concern is that a large percentage of the “non white” population does not share Christian culture or beliefs.

For example, socialism is legalized thievery for the rich and powerful, although a little trickles down to the masses just to create the impression that it has promise. Christians know that thievery is unbiblical, and they should, all do not, oppose it. Now if a culture is so decimated that the majority of people who can vote are not Christian in their understanding, and therefore see no problem with socialism, then where do you think the political direction will take us?

The day care fraud in Minneapolis, welfare fraud across America, bribery among politicians etc. are all examples of the decline from a Christian ethic in America. As people justify their criminal or at least corrupt behavior as based upon the other guy is doing it so why can’t I, doesn’t work? That philosophy is doomed, not only to failure, but to violent revolutionary upheaval like we see in Paris, France today!

The propaganda promoted by the haters of Jesus Christ and Biblical morality has been so effective that Christians now hide out in their churches and keep their head down when in public. Christianity is in retreat in America today!

So, how do you identify yourself? Do you do it by a faith in Jesus Christ, or is it based upon how new a car you have, or what your job is, or with what social group you affiliate? Is the authority in your life how you “feel”, or is it what God says in the Bible and the law He has provided for our good? The time is late, but hopefully not too late, to make that decision clear in your mind. Jesus Christ is the only solution to achieve peace – He is the “Prince of Peace”!
