In Some Places In America, Law Enforcement Officials Do Not Have To Be A U.S. Citizen! What Could Possibly Go Wrong HERE? These states have taken this approach: California, Colorado, Illinois, New Mexico, Virginia, and Washington. So, how will a law enforcement officer from El Salvador swear allegiance to the flag and to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States when he’s not even an American? When this officer who is already in violation of the law has to administer the law, how will he do it lawfully and in good conscience? What will be his motivation? What authority, other than a pay check, will constrain and/or restrain him? Is it possible that U.S. citizens (nationals) will deny these officer’s authority and legitimacy? If so, will that lead to a breakdown in law and order?
