Why not $100 per hour? Surely you jest says the skeptic leftist promoting $22 per hour minimum wage. What does a minimum wage do?

Firstly, a minimum wage is applied to entry level workers or workers with minimal skills. The example would be high school students or the unemployed and day workers.

If you are a “skilled” worker such as an electrician, plumber, glazier, mason, carpenter, etc., and you are making $28 an hour, and the minimum wage is raised to $22 per hour, then you will recognize that your skills deserve more than the untrained, unskilled individual getting $22 per hour. You then will argue for a raise to $35 per hour in order to have the ability to distinguish your life style from the unskilled worker. It’s only human nature to want to maintain your lifestyle, and when the minimum wage goes to $22 per hour, then you as a skilled worker will have an unskilled worker competing for your lifestyle.

So, what happens when the unskilled worker at McDonalds, Burger King and/or Wendy’s gets a raise to $22 per hour? That’s right, the price of your hamburger and fries goes up. And, when the hourly wage of an electrician,, plumber, glazier, mason, carpenter etc. goes to $35 per hour, you guessed it, your cost of housing and your housing maintenance costs will go up commensurately.

Ah, but what about the more highly skilled people such as doctors, dentists and attorneys. Their not going to be satisfied with making $70 per hour any more, and they will raise their prices so their income will be $90 per hour, and so your medical and legal expenses will go up also.

Then, of course, the politicians that fomented all of this nonsense will have to have a raise, and a few more bribes to maintain their standard of living, an so it goes, so that a minimum wage of $22 per hour will just leave the poor sap who relies upon it, just as poor as always, and the people on fixed incomes (retired people) will either have to have a dividend increase and/or more social security income.

A minimum wage does nobody, but the politicians and Socialist any good, and it hurts the little guy the most. Do you think Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer et. al. care if they have to spend another 1/10%, or even 1% of their income on food, gas, and medical expenses? You’re an idiot if you do!
