G20 Interfaith Forum – Ever Heard Of It?

Mormon Church hosts G 20 Interfaith Forum:

From October 15 to 17, in Salt Lake City — the epicenter of the Mormon faith — a unique event unfolded, the G20 Interfaith Forum (IF20). Representatives from Islam, Judaism, various Christian bodies, Hinduism, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints converged with ambassadors and government insiders. The mix included personalities connected to the World Bank and United Nations.

The purpose? To energize organizations and faith-groups connected to the G20 interfaith network; to align priorities and principles, to consider how to frame the post-2030 agenda, and to strengthen the IF20 process.

The hope? That action will be taken on specific issues like human trafficking, health care concerns, pandemic prevention, energy policies, Artificial Intelligence, and education. Moreover, that recommendations fleshed out during the IF20 will be disseminated to the many other G20 engagement groups, and that it influences the G20 political process itself. Furthermore, there is a grander vision within the IF20; to expand its reach into broader systems of global governance.

I’ll dive more into these developments over the next few weeks.

In the meantime, here is our recent Orbis Sentry debrief with Director of Geopolitical and Economic Research, George Olson, Project Researcher Audrey Vanderkley, and yours truly. I’ve also posted a few photos from the event HERE.
