
| California Town Bans Data Centers in Landslide Ballot Measure |
| Big Tech does not want local communities to vote on the construction of data centers. This story shows why. Monterey Park, California, became the first American town to permanently ban data center construction this week. Voters approved a ballot measure on the issue by a comical margin, with 86% choosing to prohibit the anti-human and highly likely demonic AI facilities. The vote came after a proposed data center was expected to use three times as much electricity as the rest of the 60,000-person city combined. As we have written before, we are proudly anti-data center. That said, this story is not really about creepy AI facilities. It is about democracy. Polling clearly shows that Americans do not want data centers in their communities, but tech oligarchs like Kevin O’Leary continue to shove them down the country’s throat anyway.
