The Republican Party is symbolized by an elephant due to 19th-century political cartoons by Thomas Nast. Nast first used it in an 1874 Harper’s Weekly cartoon, “The Third-Term Panic,” representing the party as a strong, dignified, but “oafish” animal. The image originated earlier, referencing Civil War slang where “seeing the elephant” meant experiencing combat. Add to that that elephants have a long memory.
Should a person who participates in and/or with a political party have a reason, other than family identity/heritage, to participate with that party? And, should family “identity/heritage” even be a factor? Should that person, in addition to participation, extend their loyalty to that party? Should that loyalty be absolute? Should it be without question or opposition?
Under the current circumstances with the Republican Party, do they ever have a chance to make real change in America? If so, what will it take to do that? What will that change look like. Who will take that initiiative? It is the contention of this writer that the answer to the first question is “Yes”, if there is an appropriate understanding and application to the succeeding three questions in this paragraph.
To come to any meaningful answers, it is necesary to establish some careful, clear, concise, cogent, competent, core principles by which to guide and shepherd the Republican Party. Those principles must be “fixed” and not subject to change. The idea of principles are like a road map to get from New York to San Francisco. If you don’t have a road map, you may end up going way out of your way and hitting a lot of dead ends and construction sites to slow you down and divert you from your objective(s).
From this writer’s perspective, please allow some suggestions for your consideration.
1.) Debt – any kind, by borrowing whether deficit spending, bonds, future promises, taking bribes, authorizing and/or
inflating or deflating the currency are all bad!
2.) The premeditated taking of a human life defined as at the point of conception, is first degree murder (except for capital punishment), and any and all parties involved i.e. hospitals, clinics, doctors, mothers, insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies etc. will be held accountable, and if a corpoatee interest, then the head of that corporation will be held acountable personally, and all to the full extent of the law which means capital punishment!
3.) Denying, through legislation or regulation, any person or entity the right to implement the full use of their, or its, private property as long as it is not abusing that right leading to demonstrable damages to other parties, is bad!
4.) Forcing anyone to apply any medical treatment to themselves or those who are in their immediate family and under their charge is bad!
Adherence to the above would have to be paramount for the Republican Party to recover credibility. The Republican Party has been infiltrated by Democrat wolves in Republican sheep’s clothing, and those people are called RINO’s (Republican In Name Only) or Neocons. Both of which have destroyed the Republican Party, and they also dominate it!
To eliminate this problem and to restore the Republican Party to a meaningful position would require having only candidates who are willing to a.) sign off on the above 4 principles before getting their candidacy endorsed and supported by the Republican Party, and b.) agree to resign their positions and have them turned over to someone who will be faithful to those 4.
This would require a written agreement between the party and the candidate, and it would have to be legally binding and enforceable. Any candidate who violates the agreement is GONE! Below is a copy of the recommended agreement, and anyone wishing to copy and print it is welcome to do so with no attribution required.
Binding Non-negotiable Party/Candidate Agreement
Be it known this day ____________, the ______of ____________in the year of ___________, that
_________________________, currently residing at __________________________, in the city
of _______________, in the county of ________________, in the state of ____________________
wishes to have, and formally seeks to have, the legal approval by the the official Republican Party and
their elected representatives, the nomination as candidate for political office in the form of
_________________________ representing district number ____ located in _____________________.
The Republican Party hereby mandates that the candidate applying for approval, in order to receive said and requested nomination formally and officially, must agree to the following stated principles without exception, negotiation, alteration or argument, and that in agreeing, the named candidate will not violate the following four (4) listed principles:
1.) Debt – any kind, by borrowing whether deficit spending, bonds, future promises, taking bribes, authorizing and/or inflating or deflating the currency are all bad!
2.) The premeditated taking of a human life defined as at the point of conception, is first degree murder, and any and all parties involved i.e. hospitals, clinics, doctors, mothers, insurance companies, pharmaceutical companies etc. will be held accountable, and if a corporate interest, then the head of that corporation will be held accountable personally, and all to the full extent of the law which means capital punishment!
3.) Denying, through legislation or regulation, any person or entity the right to implement the full use of their, or its, private property as long as it is not abusing that right and in so doing leads to demonstrable damages to other parties, is bad!
4.) Forcing anyone to apply any medical treatment to themselves or those who are in their immediate family and/or under their legal charge is bad!
Said candidate further agrees that if they are found by the Republican Party to have violated any one of these principles – no matter how slight or obscure their interpretation of them may be, then said candidate will immediately resign his/her status as a candidate or as an elected official whichever may be the case, and the Republican Party upon this determination will immediately appoint a replacement to either run in the candidate’s place, or take over the elected position the candidate currently holds. Furthermore, said candidate waives any right of appeal or suit against the Republican Party as said candidate will be in breach of contract! If said candidate does bring suit, said candidate will be responsible for both his legal fees and the legal fees of the Republican Party. It will be incumbent upon the rank and file Republican Party members to hold the party representatives accountable.

The Benefits
Now, what does this accomplish?
1.) It establishes some fixed principles for the party to abide by, and to require of anyone wishing to run as a Republican.
2.) It gives those who are inclined to vote a straight Republican ticket without examining each candidate thoroughly (something that is next to impossible), a modicum of assurance that they are voting with some integrity for someone with some integrity.
3.) It puts candidates and elected officials in the position of not being able to change their minds after they get elected – something that happens all of the time – in fact, that may well be the plan of many who run for ofice.
4.) In establishing the stated principles, it eliminates the furor over issues that distorts every election cycle. Additionally, it places virtue over values.
