Throughout history, there is no example of a completely lawless anarchistic society ever surviving. Law does two things; it restrains/punishes evil and promotes/encourages good. Within that context, there have been some perversions of what is good and/or evil.
The Garden of Eden in the book of Genesis is the beginning of that battle to control the definition of good and evil. Satan, in opposition to GOD, told Eve that she too can be like GOD; knowing good and evil. By the term “knowing”, is meant the ability to define within the mind of mankind what is good and evil. Satan wanted to take that authority away from GOD, and he used mankind in an attempt to do that. The common term for Eve’s decision and subsequent fall is “original sin”. Satan was not successful in taking away GOD’s authority – all he did was disrupt the relationship between GOD and man.
Sin is any failure to conform to the law of GOD. Scripture teaches that there is liberty in the law of GOD. Unbelievers will roll their eyes at that statement, but look at the reality of today’s world. We have bloated tyrannical government (run by men) defining what is good and evil. Government through public schools tells people what to think, like, hate, do, feel etc. Public schools teach kids what to believe about the world around them. Those beliefs include fearing global climate change, embracing any sexual activity, rejecting parental authority, relying upon the state for ultimate authority, pursuing maximum indebtedness, amd acceptance of fiat (on demand) currency etc.
All of the above mentioned things are 100% contradictory to the teaching of GOD and His law in Scripture. But, the government (run by men) does not stop there. The government takes the fruits of people’s labor by force and frivously spends it on all sorts of frauds, causes, and efforts to manipulate people’s behavior and beliefs. Although the government wants to be GOD, they cannot, but they are capable of competing with GOD on a nominal basis. The state pursues charity – it’s a false charity, but people can’t seem to see that, and so they continue to support the idea.
For whatever reason, people can’t seem to understand, or want to accept, the fact that the state has no soul, and therefore does not have the capacity for true love and compassion – or for that matter even justice. One example would be the abolition of the death penalty. When that happens, the criminal is rewarded and the victim is punished – that philosophy has been expaned upon in recent years. A rejection of GOD’s law is promoted by those who hate GOD. Jesus says in the book of John chapter 14 verses 15 – 25, that if you love Him, you’ll keep His commands and those who hate Him don’t keep His commands. In Biblical history, the nation of Israel failed to keep GOD’s laws (commands), and as such, He judged them. GOD judges nations by other nations through war and treason, or in some cases with plagues, famine, drought, and, collapses
What a lot of people – Christians included – don’t realize is the fulfillment of the law by Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ was prophecied to be crucified. He was sentenced to death under the law. Had He not been executed, then He could not have satisfied the sacrificial requirement GOD had laid down in His law for which sin could be atoned. GOD’s elect are now repentant and saved from thier sins, and have the promise of Heaven – peace with GOD; for eternity! The rest are unrepentant law violators who will spend eternity in Hell with no peace.
So, the question that must arise in the reader’s mind at this juncture is; “What is GOD’s law? How do I know what it is? Where do I find it? Am I beyond hope? The answer is; no you are not beyond hope. Repent and believe – very easy to do once GOD changes your heart. Ask for that! After that, read His word in a legitimate Biblical translation; i.e. King James, New King James, American Standard, New American Standard, Geneva Bible, and there are other excellent translations. Watch out for fraudulent translations that make GOD a woman, Jesus Christ a homosexual or an adulterer. Go to a good church. The Refomred faith is the closest to a Biblical faith, but not the only way to go.
Stay away from cults (extra Biblical revelation) such as Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, Christian Scientists, Seventh Day Adventists etc. Stay away from churches where entertainment is the focal point. Stay away from churches that accept sinful behavior. All churches have sinners in them – read Romans 3:10 – 18. Look for exigetical teaching (straight from Scripture without jumping around) That is not to say that topical preaching is necessarily bad or wrong, but one must be careful, because topical preaching is a vehicle for deception and error as well.
