Currently, Texans are paying roughly $0.13 per KWH (kilowatt hour), and you can expect that to go to somewhere between $0.25 and $0.30 per KWH! Californians are already paying $0.30 per KWH and crying the blues. It’s one reason all builders of homes have been required to install solar panels on California homes. A not so subtle way to promote solar and wind energy! Forget the fact that the sun can be blocked by clounds and the wind doesn’t always blow! And, solar panels wear out and have to be replaced – very expensive! Solar panels use silver, and the price of silver is skyrocketing right now!

As an aside, as a solar panel user, you will be paid the wholesale price for any energy you produce, but any energy you consume, you will pay the retail price. That means solar users currently get paid about $0.09 per KWH, and if the rates go to $0.30 per KWH, solar users will get paid roughly $0.18 per KWH. In other words, solar users, expect your utility bill to double! Additionally, everyone, including solar users, pays minimum fees and taxes just to be hooked up to the grid.
