Let’s go to the Jewish Torah for the answer to the question in the title of this BLOG post. In the Torah, we have the story of Noah and his three sons; Ham, Japeth and Shem. Shem is the father of Abraham. From Shem comes the term Shemites which has been shortened to Semites. Abraham was the father of Ishmael and Isaac who are both Semites. Ishmael was the son of the “bond woman”, Hagar, and Isaac was the son of the free woman (Sarah), and therefore, Isaac was considered the “chosen one”. Nonetheless, God promised Ishmael, by way of Abraham as well as his mother, Hagar, that he would be the father of a great nation.

Ishmael became the father of the Arabs, and Isaac became the father of the Jews. The Jews hate the Arabs, and the Arabs hate the Jews. This means the Semites hate the Semites, or put another way, not only are the Arabs anti-Semites, but the Jews are anti-Semites as well. So what’s the big deal about being anti-Semite?
