Peace! Possible? Impossible?

Myth Or Truth?

Over 700 years before Jesus Christ was born (even the liberals don’t deny His birth) the prophet Isaiah said in chapter 9 verse 6:

“For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Jeremiah 6:13 & 14 says:

“Because from the least of them even to the greatest of them,
Everyone is given to covetousness;
And from the prophet even to the priest,
Everyone deals falsely.

They have also healed the [a]hurt of My people [b]slightly,
Saying, ‘Peace, peace!
When there is no peace.”

Philippians 4:7 says:

“…and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

So, the answer is “Yes” (possible with Christ) and “No” (impossible without Christ). In this tumultuous world, if you are not “in” Jesus Christ; that is to say born again and saved by His shed blood and completed work on the cross as the propitiation for your sins because God “chose” you in Him, then you will never have true peace!

The word peace has multiple meanings in today’s culture/world. It can mean quiet and calm, or cessation from hostilities, or peace with the Devil and world, or peace with God. Peace with God may not afford you any more than a spiritual peace – that remains to be seen. Life is eternal, and where you go when your body dies is critically important! Does peace or torment await you?
