Then, there are different types of classifications such as confidential, secret, top secret, sensitive etc. Some classifications are relevant only for a short period of time, and then they become irrelevant after the information becomes public knowledge or the information has become “ancient” history. The President has access, or at least should have access, to all documents pertaining to the administration of the Federal government. As such, he has the authority and capability to declassify or reclassify any or all documents.
