Thanksgiving is an American tradition that goes back to the Pilgrims who fled England to escape religious persecution. Many of the Pilgrims starved, and those who were able to survive included thanks to God and the Indians who helped them. Indeed the Pilgrims shared the first Thanksgiving with the Indians who were instrumental in their survival by teaching them farming skills. The sinful nature of man has created division between the races and cultures, and as a nation, we have devolved from Thanksgiving to “Turkey Day” which takes the focus off of God’s provision. Stand fast in God’s word if you are a believer, and if you are not a believer, you will not be able to stand fast because you are on sinking sand.
