
Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum exemplified what dufus’ politicians were in the day of Lewis Carroll, the author of the Alice In Wonderland story, back in the late 19th century. Although on first reading/viewing, the whole thing seems a total nonsense, there is an undercurrent of political dissension. Speaking out against the government in those days could lead to your execution or excommunication, or in today’s lexicon, “deplatforming” courtesy Google, You Tube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc. The story was well received at the time because the common man saw the meaning of it, although it was a covert meaning and not overt.
