Separation of church and state is in the Bible. In the Torah and the book of Samuel, it is made clear that the king shall not meddle in the church, and the church shall not assume the position of the king, although the church is allowed to use the bully pulpit to rebuke the king when he steps out of line with the Bible. The founders were not concerned that Christian influence existed in America, they just didn’t want a particular denomination in charge of the church and/or the state.
Jefferson’s letter on the “wall of separation” written to the Baptists of Danbury Connecticut was to assure them that the Episcopalians, Congregationalists, Presbyterians, Roman Catholics etc. would not be the dominant religion of America, and particularly not by legislation. Therefore, you have a separation of church and state, but not a separation of state and morality. All legislation is morality made law; it’s just a matter of whose morality will prevail. Will the prevailing morality be the scientific atheists (Communists), The licentious (Libertarians), or the monopoly Capitalist (materialists/empiricists), the covetous (Socialists), the Roman Catholics (Statists with a pagan twist) or any number of other moral systems that don’t comport with the Bible’s moral standards?
The major problem lay in the fact that people such as yourself (well meaning and attempting to be intellectually honest) reject Biblical morality, and want to substitute it with a libertarian ideology of “do no harm” and restore Constitutional government. Not all people agree on what is “harm”, and you can plainly see that interpreting the Constitution is subject to some real perversion. You know you will not be “Dictator for Life”, so that’s out of the question. There must be a cultural moral standard, and that’s the reason for religion – to bind a culture. Next is the language which Soros and others are trying to destroy (the tower of Babel is an example of how important a common language is), and therefore, with no common religion and no common language, what will allow America to survive? It won’t, and it won’t be restored after a collapse based upon your ideology – sorry! If we lose it, we lose it forever.
