It is expected that individual people, and even some organizations, will be hypocritical from time to time, or maybe even all of the time.  When a government takes a hypocritical position, it has much greater implications.  It can become a precedent, or even have the force of law.  Enforcing hypocrisy is a slippery slope that leads downhill fast into an abyss of confusion and likely great violence as justice has been thrown out the window.  Even people you don’t like or agree with seek justice.  To deny them is dangerous.
