Is GOD Judging America?

Oh My God!” (Really? – Who Is Your God?)

If you are reading this and do not believe there is a God, then you can go back to sleep. On the other hand, if you have even a modicum of intellectual honesty and are willing to acknowledge that you do not know all there is to know, then read on.

Deuteronomy 28 is Moses’ farewell address to the nation of Israel. In it, he declares, that if Israel obeyed GOD’s commands (which they didn’t), then He would bless them with prosperity, peace and power over their enemies. Then he told them that if they disobeyed (which they did), then he listed all of the curses of poverty, illness, oppression by enemies etc. that would take place. So, what he told Israel was conditional – “IF”, “THEN”. Moses knew the future of Israel, and in his address, he said; “When you disobey…”! In other words, Israel was flawed, as are all men and nations.

The resulting disobedience by Israel led to their downfall. At the time of Jesus Christ, Israel was under subjection by the Romans. Israel was just a shell of their former self, never to recover – not even in modern times (today!)

Now, let’s look upon America for a brief moment. The people who first settled America did so because they were fleeing sinful societies led by depraved rulers who oppressed the people with a feudal economic system which guaranteed that nobody would ever get ahead. It was very much like Inda’s caste system. If you were born poor, you would remain poor. If you were born rich, it would take a lot of neglect and apathy along with very reckless disregard for your status, to be reduced to less than you were born.

Those who fled Europe (mostly England – initially) came to America for a fresh start. Many sold themselves into slavery (indentured servitude – limited in time). Once they were released from that servitude, their initiative, drive, innovativeness, and committment led to the possiblity of great wealth, without having to bow to an elite class. There was more to the story. A large number of those who came to America brought with them a faith in the GOD of the Bible.

These people saw GOD as He presented Himself in Scripture as a Sovereign GOD capable of blessing and cursing based upon His good pleasure and for His glory. This faith led to people exercising a high standard of morality based upon Biblical teaching and law. Combined with their faith, they parlayed these features into great wealth. These people were savers – not spenders (consumers). Debt, a curse in the Bible, was not on their lips or mind. Many purged themselves from being indebted, and didn’t want to enter into that status ever again.

As a result, America prospered as a group of colonies. Each colony had a constitution which called for any elected and/or appointed official to be a believer in the GOD of the Bible. One colony, North Carolina, actually added to that a requirement that those people had to also be of the Protestant faith. That was a response to Maryland’s strong Roman Catholic influence.

As political pressures mounted, the colonies coalesced into a nation status, the United States of America, and they instituted a law system that was based upon Biblical precepts. The law system acknowledged GOD and His status as Creator. The document concluded with; “In the year of our LORD…”. Although not a perfect document, it did acknowledge and honor the GOD of the Bible.

America continued to prosper in spite of the sin of slavery. America had honest money (gold and silver); they had savings, and debt was infrequent on the part of individuals. Debt in govenment was minimal, and was paid off on a number of occasions. America exhibited generosity, decency, high moral standards, acquiescence to GOD’s laws and more. As a result, America prospered mightily.

Believe it or not, there was a time when America was not only revered, but it was feared – feared in that Americans traveling abroad would not be molested because people knew there was a whole nation that would protect and avenge that American citizen. The dollar was recognized around the world as an honest money that could be relied upon as retaining value.

As America prospered, among other things, they allowed non-Protestants to emigrate to America. This began to dilute a Reformed Protestant culture that was substantially homogenous. Along with this, America’s prosperity led to a greater ease on the part of the average citizen. By the 1920’s, morality became looser and looser. The first great judgment against America (after the War Between the States) was the Great Depression. That destroyed alot of lives and drove millions into abject poverty. Worse yet, through the machinations of politicians and the elitist who ruled them, it led to a dependence upon the government.

Prior to the depression, dependence upon government was a non-factor. People depended upon family, friends, church, neighbors, and employers to help them out when in trouble. Now, all of a sudden, people could get a hand out form government with no accountablity! This was not overly egregious, because people still had retained that high standard of morality, but it was weakened by the Roaring 20’s and World War I. Subsequently, World War II helped pull America out of its economic malaise, but at what expense?

At this point, America became a world power both economically, and politically. In the process, there was an attitude shift in the government that gradually permeated the entire society. An air of superiority, elitism and smugness began to overtake the culture. People began to disregard the GOD of the Bible thinking that He was no longer a factor in their lives. In the 1960’s the American culture began to shift in major ways.

Children began to become much more autonomous from their parents who were busy keeping up with the Jones’s. Church attendence began to become less faithful. Materialism began its relentless march. At best, GOD started to not only be overlooked, but He took a back seat in the lives of many Americans, and He got kicked out of a lot of lives. In fact, in 2008, the Democratic Party formally voted GOD out of the party!

From the 60’s on, there was a steady decline in morality. By the 70’s gold was removed from our currency, and the Federal government was put in charge of education. The Ten Commandments was D.O.A. by the end of the 70’s as they were removed from schools and the public arena entirely. The state became GOD! Man became his own standard. Man (now revealed as evil) as a standard is, at best, a bad joke. At worst, it is a death sentence for a whole nation.

Evil men are clever in that they create problems, and then they always have an intrusive and expensive government solution waiting in the wings. Of course the problems that creates are contrived and the solutions are false and worthless leading to further solutions to the problems they cause, and futher failures in resolving the problems. What it’s highly successful at is distracting and distancing people from the solutions that GOD offers in the Bible.

As a result of these false and unbiblical solutions, we become more and more mired in economic decline, oppression, immorality, disease, decline, chaos, confusion, violence, betrayal, and ultimately capitulation to an enemy nation. It’s right before your eyes if they’re open!

The unbelieving person would attribute it all to chance. The believing person would attribute it to GOD’s judgment. An intellectually honest evaluation would lead one to conclude that chance is out of the question. If the reader is intellectually honest, then the next thing he/she must realize is that this is all a spiritual battle.

World War I began in earnest in the Garden of Eden. The battle is between GOD and Satan. Man is the spiritual soldier in the middle, and GOD chooses whom He will, and the rest are agents of Satan whether consciously or unconsciously. Jesus Christ (GOD manifest in the flesh) says; “Your’either for Me of against Me!” He doesn’t leave any middle ground. There’s no sitting on the fence or watching from the sidelines.
