The prompt was; “How does Google define ‘far right’, and then ‘far left'”:
Google does not have a single, official definition of “far-right,” but based on search results, it would encompass a range of political views on the furthest end of the right-wing spectrum, characterized by extreme nationalism, authoritarian tendencies, and nativism. This includes groups and ideologies that are deeply conservative, oppose social reform, and emphasize a rigid social hierarchy and traditional values. Definitions often highlight a connection to racism, xenophobia, or other reactionary beliefs, and can include groups like fascists or neo-Nazis.
Google does not have a formal definition for “far left,” but its search results reflect a common political and academic understanding of the term as representing extreme political positions, such as those associated with revolutionary socialism, communism, or anarchism. It describes ideologies and groups that advocate for revolutionary change and can be seen as more radical than mainstream left-leaning politics.
This writer has looked up a number of people and organizations, on both sides of the right left aisle. To the best of this writer’s recollection, “far right“ has been used frequently, and to date, I’ve never seen “far left“. Let me know if I’m missing something.
Google even acknowledges a left leaning bias. For example, Google acknowledges partnering with the SPLC (Southern Poverty Law Center) which exercises maximum vitriol toward conservative organizations and Christian traditional beliefs. Therefore, this writer recommend using a search engine other than Google or many others just as left leaning.
