This writer uses a different criteria. To this wirter, “middle class” means you can afford all of the necessities of life, and a few of the luxuries. In other words, after you’ve paid all of your bills for necessities, you have money left over to save for some of those luxuries such as a vacation, going out to dinner at a nice restaurant, buying new clothes (vs. used), buying nice liquor and so on. The necessities would be tithing to your church, taking care of yourself and your family with a roof over your head, clothes on your back, food in your belly, a car, insurance for your home and car, utilities to run your home, and the ability to maintain your home properly and satisfactory, medical and dental care. The median income means little, because Americans are getting poorer which means the standard of living is going down for the middle class! Money meddling explained HERE!
