Where’s The Best Place To Start?

Would you start reading a book in the middle somewhere, or would you start at the beginning? What about a movie – the middle or the beginning? If you build a house, do you start with the walls, or with the foundation?

The question might seem ridiculous, but it is critical, VERY, VERY CRITICAL!!! The start is the beginning, and so by logical conclusion the best place to start is the beginning.

What is the beginning? The first four words of the Bible are that upon which all else is based – “In the beginning GOD….”. If you don’t accept or believe those four words, the rest of the Bible is of little or no value! That means life is of no value and has no meaning other than what an individual or collective assigns to it.

The life of a human being is comprised of the physical and the spiritual. The physical body (Heart included) is necessary and also, that which you can see, touch, hear, smell and taste. It includes all that makes it possible to exist as a body. The spiritual includes the soul (Heart included), emotions, mind; which is the vehicle for developing and employing behavior, attitude, knowledge, ideology and philosophy – those things which you cannot see, touch, hear, smell and taste.

Humans must have both to survive. All humans are spiritual in nature. The Bible teaches that man (woman included always unless otherwise noted) is created in the image of GOD. Scripture teaches that GOD is a spirit. As a spiritual being, man is inherently religious and compelled to worship. The rub comes when man determines he wants to worship one other than his Creator GOD. Now GOD has the power to compel everyone to worship Him, but He has not done that. He has allowed some a longer leash (fig) than others.

With that in mind, GOD changes the hearts of some men, so they become His by His choice. The rest are not His. Those who are His will spend eternity with Him in Heaven. Those who are not His will spend eternity in Hell without Him. Those who are His will love Him and do good works to glorify and obey Him. Those who are not His will do what they want to do which may, at times, be glorifying of Him, although not with a right heart, and therefore, not pleasing to Him.

Scripture tells us that Hell is without GOD where there is gnashing of teeth, weeping, and tormenting thirst and regret. Heaven is described as having no night, all tears wiped away, filled with joy, living in a mansion and worshipping GOD. The choice should be obvious, but there are people who would rather go to Hell! Go figure.
