Collossians 1:15-20 tells more concisely and thoroughly than any other Scripture passage Who Jesus Christ is, and His purpose in coming to this world! Therefore, the answer to; “is He relevant today?” is answered in this passage as well as Who He is.
The unbeliever, of course, would not agree with the above Scripture and this writer’s conclusion. That is of no effect on GOD and His plans. The unbeliever knows there is a GOD but denies it in his heart. The unbeliever, has no idea of what GOD’s definition of evil is. The “professing” Christian is willing to settle in many instances for the lesser of two evils! Indeed, good and evil was what the fall of Adam in the Garden of Eden was all about – man “knowing good and evil” meaning that man would determine for himself apart from GOD what was good and evil. That is subjectivity (Definition sub heading 4a. 1, 2, 3, 4 & sub heading #5) verses objectivity (Definition 1a. in context that GOD is the source of the facts and the author of the conditions).
Christ is relevant yesterday, today and forever because He is the mediator between GOD and man. Does that mean all men – no, it means those men and women whom GOD has “chosen” to be His. Those whom He chooses are instantly justified and born again John 3:3 – 5 which Jesus said is the “only way to see the Kingdom of GOD”! Although not everyone is going to Heaven, everyone wants to go! Therefore, Jesus Christ is relevant today and forever if you are born again, or will be born again or never born again!
