All three are quoted as saying; “A half truth is worse than a lie!” How can that be? It’s simple! You can’t argue with a half truth because it’s true! Half truths can be very deceptive. Why, because half truths are told to protect the other half of the truth that exposes the WHOLE TRUTH. In other words, a half truth is a lie by omission! That’s why an oath in court testimony requires the witness to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth!
For example, you want to make someone look bad – a politician for instance. Here’s how it goes;
Interviewer: Mr. politician, did you say;”I’m a sorry person!”?
Politician: “Yes!” The full context was; “I’m a sorry person for having witnessed those killed by war!”
Half truths can be very clever as demonstrated by the current election process for an example.
