How To Buy A Dollar!

U.S. Minted Gold Eagle!

Two men (customers) unknown to each other go into a coin store. The following conversation occurs with the store clerk in the middle.

Store clerk: “How may I help you?”

Customer One: “I’d like to buy some dollars!”

Store Clerk: “How many do you want?”

Customer One: “I’d like to buy 2500, and I’ll give you one ounce of gold for them.”

Store Clerk: “That’s selling them a little cheap for me!”

Customer One: “That’s a fair offer.”

Customer Two: “I’ll give you an ounce of gold for 2475 dollars!”

Customer One: “Fool!”

Customer Two: “Take it or leave it, and you better decide right now!”

Store Clerk: “That’s still a little cheap; you must be very pleased with your gold.”

Customer Two: “So that’s a ‘No’?”

Store Clerk: “Well….”

Customer Two: “Too late – forget it!”

Customer One: “Smart!”

Store Clerk: “Now wait a minute!”

Customer One: “I’m changing my offer. I’ll give you one ounce of gold for $2550!”

Customer Two: “I’ll give you an ounce of gold for $2525! Decide now!”

Store Clerk: “You guys are double teaming me – what’s going on here?”

Customer Two: “Your stalling just cost you – my offer is withdrawn!”

Store Clerk: “Now hold on just a sec.”

Customer Two: “Nope, that’s it – you move too slowly.”

Customer One: “Well, my final offer before I walk out the door is $2600 for an ounce of gold!”

Customer Two: “See, you shold have taken my offer when the opportunity was there!”

Store Clerk: “You’re right!”

Customer Two: “Final offer; I’ll give you one ounce of gold for $2575!”

Store Clerk: “Done and done!”

Customer One: “That works for me too!”

Note: The value of the gold ounce never changed – the value of the dollar did!

P.S. story continued, and the next month, the ounce of gold bought $2700!
